Today, I'm sharing a romantic country club wedding filled with layers of blue flowers complimented by lavender and ivory. Set in a the beautiful ballroom of the Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase MD, this design was crafted to have a romantic aesthetic with a color palette that brought refinement, depth and a sense of timelessness to the space.
As most may know, blue flowers can be a little challenging to come by and given this was the main color in the palette we wanted to ensure we were bringing in depth with our choices of blue flowers. That meant sourcing naturally blue flowers like Muscari, Hydrangea and Delphinium (which are the most common). While we could have also used Tweedia, Cornflower and Thistle, these flowers were not really providing us with the upscale design we were aiming for. So, we opted to make use of the Hydrangea, Muscari and Delphinium along with a few flowers we decided to purchase tinted in a shade of blue like the Phalaenopsis Orchids, Sweetpea and Carnations we used in the design.
It was truly important for the bride to incorporate blue flowers in this soft and romantic design. Given that the ballroom was a blank canvas of white walls and gold accents, bringing in blue flowers into the space felt light enough for a spring wedding and different enough to set this wedding apart from the rest.
Columbia Country Club is a venue where you can let your creativity blossom, so to speak. The space lends itself for hanging florals or greenery from their chandeliers, grand entryway florals or large-scale installations.

When we pick flower options for a design concept, seeing all the flowers together is always so helpful. We also had a large fireplace mantle installation to craft for this wedding and when it comes to flower installations, having a digital mock up can be so helpful. This was our digital mock up.

Seeing how all the flowers we chose blend together is key in crafting a successful design. Digital mock ups are some of our favorite things to do. But if you'd like to see how these blue and lavender flower concepts came to life, enjoy the gallery of the event below.
