Are Brunch Weddings the New Trend?

Alright, hear us out: we had the opportunity to provide floral design and month-of coordination services for a lovely couple who hosted a brunch wedding on May 31st, and our verdict is in—we 1000% approve.

Let us take you through the details.

This beautiful spring wedding took place at Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville, Maryland. The couple had a very specific vision for their celebration: lush garden-inspired details, white parasols for guests, Bellinis and Mimosas flowing freely, chic spring attire, and a soft, romantic color palette. Can you picture it? Because this couple brought that vision to life flawlessly.

Guests arrived for a 10:30 a.m. ceremony and were welcomed with refreshing beverages and classic brunch cocktails, including Espresso Martinis, Mimosas, and Bellinis. The ceremony space was adorned with lush blooms in shades of ivory, blush, white, and soft greenery. For this wedding, we incorporated a mix of fresh and faux florals, and the combination was truly chef's kiss.

A round floral arch framed the couple as they exchanged vows, while acrylic chairs, pedestals, and tables complemented the garden-inspired aesthetic. Grounded floral aisle markers lined the ceremony aisle, creating a romantic and immersive experience for guests. One of our favorite design elements was that nearly every floral piece from the ceremony was thoughtfully repurposed for the reception, allowing the couple to maximize both their floral investment and the overall impact of the design throughout the day.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to cocktail hour, where they enjoyed passed hors d'oeuvres, signature brunch cocktails, and the smooth sounds of a live saxophonist playing in the background. Guests also took advantage of a unique guestbook experience, leaving heartfelt messages and well-wishes on a vintage telephone for the couple to listen to and cherish for years to come.

The reception was held in the Atrium at Newton White Mansion. With floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the space with natural light, the room felt bright, airy, and absolutely enchanting. Guest tables were adorned with a mix of lush compote arrangements and delicate bud vase collections, all complemented by an abundance of candlelight that created a warm and inviting atmosphere.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the final dance was called at 3:45 p.m. Just ten minutes later, guests lined the grand entrance of Newton White Mansion to send the newlyweds off in style with a beautiful bubble exit. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable celebration.

By 4:00 p.m., the brunch wedding had officially come to a close, and our couple had experienced all of the joy, celebration, dancing, delicious food, and meaningful moments of a traditional evening wedding—without the exhaustion that often follows a late-night event. While you may think that the candlelight was lost in the space due to the day light, that was certainly not the case. The candles lit in the space truly provided a romantic feel to an already beautiful afternoon.

A brunch wedding would not be complete without an official brunch menu. With chicken and waffles, quiche and potatoes being stars on the guests plates; Be My Guest Catering provided a delicious and quintessential DMV Brunch. After first dances, the dance floor was open and guests danced the afternoon away thanks to DJ Cali.

The Pros of Hosting a Brunch Wedding

After experiencing this wedding firsthand, we're officially fans of the brunch wedding trend. Here are just a few reasons why:

  • You get to enjoy the rest of your wedding day as newlyweds instead of immediately crashing into bed exhausted.

  • Guests arrive refreshed, energized, and ready to celebrate.

  • Your loved ones can celebrate your marriage and still have the evening free to relax, make dinner plans, or simply head home and unwind.

  • If you're not ready for the celebration to end, an after-party is still absolutely an option.

  • And, admittedly, this one is a little selfish—but your vendors get home earlier and have the opportunity to spend time with their own families.

Daytime celebrations have quickly become one of our favorite wedding experiences, and we'd happily do this all over again. So now we're curious: would you host a brunch wedding?
